CPN-Maoist Centre’s 8th Convention Kicks Off In Kathmandu

Kathmandu, Dec. 26: Chairman of CPN -Maoist Center Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ has owned up the steps that led to the present condition of the party.

“I have dissected my steps as the main leader of the party, instead of putting blame on others, with regard to our situation now in the report to be submitted to this eighth General Convention of the party,” Chairman Prachanda said while addressing the inaugural session of the party’s 8th General Convention here today.

He said his document would present the point where his party took a wrong decision after it came to the peace process. “The document has the self-review of the party and its leadership.”

“I got the opportunity to prepare and lead the people’s war. I also had the opportunity in the peace process and constitution-making. There is no point in blaming others. I have reviewed myself in the document,” he said.

The Maoist Center Chair said his dossier will give food for thought on ways to move forward a true communist movement in Nepal.

“The report also presents a review of the impact of science and technology on human life and socialism. I have the conclusion that the development of science and technology has widened the gap between the poor and the rich, which makes the need for socialism even more relevant.

The document also presents new tactics and strategies for the sake of rights and the interest of the oppressed in the country.

“I have accorded due priority to climate change and its global impact, particularly in countries like ours where the Himalayas are melting at a fast speed. The document presents ideas on ways to tackle the impact of and adapt to climate change through socialist measures.”

Political parties should focus on ending distortions and inconsistencies: Nepal

KATHMANDU, Dec 26: CPN (Unified Socialist) Chairperson Madhav Kumar Nepal said that political parties should focus on ending inequality, distortion and inconsistency in the country.

Speaking at the 8th General Convention of the CPN (Maoist Center) on Sunday, Chairman Nepal said that political parties should focus on ending inequality, distortion and inconsistency in the country. He said that he could call himself a democrat, a leftist and a communist only if the political parties were focused on ending exploitation, oppression and addressing the sufferings of the people.

Chairman Nepal said that just talking is not enough to win the trust of the people. He said that political parties should work in a way that the people themselves will start to trust them.

Similarly, he mentioned that the political parties could not win the hearts of the people unless corruption was eradicated and the change should be for the benefit of the Nepali people.
