CIAA sues 21 in corruption of Rs. 460 million

Kathmandu, March 22: The Commission for Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) has filed a corruption case against 21 individuals and companies in relation to the construction of Pokhara International Airport.

The CIAA found corruption in the appointment of the design review and construction supervision consultant.

Respondents in the case filed at the Special Court include Kedar Bahadur Adhikari, the then secretary of Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation, Sanjiv Gautam, then director general of Civil Aviation Authority, Rajan Pokhrel and Pradip Adhikari.

China CAMC Engineering Co. Ltd. and ERMC/A-not/Slate JV have also been sued in the case.

The Commission has claimed a sum of Rs. 460 million as principal amount from the then ministry secretary Adhikari and director generals Rajan Pokharel and Pradip Adhikari while a sum of Rs 89.5 million from Sanjiv Gautam and Mahendra Singh Rawal, the then director generals of the Civil Aviation Authority.
