Kathmandu, Sept 4: Search and rescue operations have been continued in the Trishuli-3 ‘A’ Hydropower Project following the August 26 floods disaster.
A joint squad, comprising 75 members from the Nepali Army, 18 from the Armed Police Force and the Nepal Police successfully rescued two persons alive from the hydropower tunnel. They are now receiving treatment at Birendra Military Hospital, Kathmandu.
Even a dead body was recovered during the search efforts. The rescuers are trying to locate other persons trapped, according to the Nepali Army.
A separate rescue team, including 89 soldiers and three civilians, has been working in the Trishuli-3 ‘B’ area. The team has made a significant progress with the excavation of 426 metres into the site.
At the Langtang Hydropower site, a team of 25 army persons and two civilians has entered the tunnel and recovered two bodies. Rescue operations are ongoing in the Chilime Hydropower Project, utilizing generators and pumps to scour sludge.
Seventeen soldiers and project representatives are conducting a search in the Haku tunnel of the Upper Trishuli-1. Even rafts and boats are used to navigate the area. The water is being pumped out of the tunnel. (RSS)
