Govt. Plans To Test 10,000 Thru PCR Methods Daily From June 29

Kathmandu, June 8: Minister for Health and Population Bhanubhakta Dhakal has said that everyday 10,000 individuals would be tested through PCR method from June 29.

Responding to the queries of the lawmakers during deliberations on the appropriation bill for the new fiscal year in the parliament today, Minister Dhakal said that procurement process of the machines has been initiated to test 10,000 individuals on a daily basis.

Minister Dhakal shared that one large machine each would be bought for all seven states.

Currently, 4,000 people are tested daily from labs setup in 21 places across the country. So far, 197,000 people are tested for Corona Virus through PCR methods and 156,991 people through RDT methods.

On the occasion, Minister Dhakal said that though the budget allocated for the health sector reform for the upcoming fiscal year was not sufficient, it would ensure a robust base for health sector.

He also shared the government policies and programmes along with the budget allocation for the upcoming fiscal year including 100 per cent allowance to frontline doctors, nurse and health workers and insurance of Rs 2.5 million to them.

According to Minister Dhakal, coronavirus infection was spotted mostly among the people of 21-31 years age group in Nepal.

Asked about the expenses of Rs 10 billion for the control of coronavirus in the country so far, Minister Dhakal said the Federal Government spent Rs 6.03 billion, State Governments spent Rs 1.8 billion while 641 local levels have spent Rs 2.76 billion.

Likewise, the Ministry of Health and Population used Rs 2.92 plus in the procurement of health and medical supplies.
