263 new cases, two deaths in 24 hours

Kathmandu, Aug. 13: With 263 new cases (RT-PCR and antigen tests combined) of COVID-19 confirmed on Saturday, the nation’s novel coronavirus tally has reached 992,727.

In 1,399 Real-Time Polymerase Chain Reaction (RT-PCR) tests done in the past 24 hours, a total of 162 people were found infected with SARS-CoV-2, informed the Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP) in its regular update on Saturday.

Likewise, the virus infection was detected in 101 people in 1,766 antigen tests performed in the last 24 hours.

Currently, there are 5,434 active cases of COVID-19 across the nation of which, 206 are admitted to institutional isolation while 5,228 patients are placed in home isolation. Out of which 61 are in ICU and four are on ventilator support.

Meanwhile, 501 COVID-19 patients receiving treatment in institutional isolation or staying in home isolation recovered from the infection in the last 24 hours.

Nepal has now recorded 975,307 cases of recovery, and the recovery rate is at 98.2 per cent.

Two fatalities related to COVID-19 were recorded in the last 24 hours, according to the MoHP. So far, Nepals’ COVID-19 death toll has reached 11,986.
