Mahendranagar (Kanchanpur), Oct 23: While the Dashain festival is being celebrated across the country with a great fervor, Nimbukheda of Bhimdutta Municipality-15 of Kanchanpur district was immersed in tears today morning.

Nimbukheda was overcome with grief after the dead body of Deepesh Bista, one among the 10 killed in Hamas militant group’s attack in Israel on October 7, reached his family in coffin. Bista had been to Israel under the11-month ‘Learn and Earn’ training representing the Agriculture Campus under the Sudurpaschim University at Tikapur, Kailali.

Bereaved mother Parbati had lost her consciousness after she was broken the news of the demise of her breadwinner son. She had come to Mahendranagar from her ancestral house at Lekam rural municipality-5 in Darchaula district to receive the dead body.A bereaved neighbour Suresh Pal recalled, “Deepesh excelled in academics from an early age. When he lost his father at a tender age, he moved ahead with audacity to become the sole breadwinner of the family. He was the bedrock support to his widow mother.”

“He kept having a daring attitude and was hell-bent to uplift the living standards of his family. But the situation turned out to be very heart-wrenching when he returned home in coffin,” he wailed. The mortal remains of Deepesh that was kept at Seti Provincial Hospital at Dhangadhi was brought home today morning. He studied at Global Academy at Mahendranagar from grade 1 to grade 10 in scholarship due to his academic excellence, shared Surendra Raj Ojha, the Principal of the School.

Ojha, who attended the final rites of Deepesh on the bank of the Mahakali River, bemoaned, “The unimaginable incident has drowned everyone us in the sea of sorrow.”
Deepesh, who himself studied Science in his higher secondary school had harboured a dream to see his younger brother becoming a doctor. He had been shouldering household responsibilities in his supple shoulders since he lost his father to cancer when he was 4 years old.

His mother is a teacher at the Latinath Secondary School in Darchula while his younger brother, Basanta Raj Bista, is studying MBBS at the BP Koirala Institute of Health Sciences in Dharan, Sunsari district. The bodies of four out of 10 Nepalis students killed in Israel were flown to Nepal on last Friday and Saturday as well as Sunday. All the dead bodies were handed over to their respective families in Sudurpaschim Province at Dhangadhi Airport on Sunday evening. (RSS)
