CIAA files corruption case against 55 individuals, former ministers, secretaries

By Sapana Thami, Kathmandu, Dec 7: The Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) has filed corruption case at the Special Court in Kathmandu against 55 individuals that include former government ministers and secretaries such as Dr. Ram Sharan Mahat, Bhim Prasad Acharya, late Post Bahadur Bogati, Ram Kumar Shrestha and Dipak Chandra Amatya.

The CIAA has charged the 55 individuals with misusing over 8 billion 367 million rupees in connection to the construction project of the Pokhara Regional International Airport, according to Ganesh Bahadur Adhikari, assistant spokesperson of the CIAA.

The Chinese constructor of the project and its representatives in Nepal have also been sued in the court.

The CIAA filed the case today as per section 8 of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 2002.
