Kathmandu, Aug 4: A comprehensive discussion has been held at the office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers with a view to solving the problem of shortage of cooking gas as seen lately in the market.
Held under the chairmanship of chief secretary Govind Bahadur Karki, the meting analysed the causes of shortage and review roles of concerned ministry, department, gas companies and businesspeople for the solution.
During the discussion, gas entrepreneurs claimed that there was no shortage of cooking gas in the market as the way rumour is created.
They attributed the shortage to consumers’ habit of holding more cylinders than they actually need due to fear of future possible shortage.
The meeting decided to intensify management and coordination among concerned authorities to make gas supply and distribution system more effective, regular and easy.
Similarly, the meeting decided to increase the cooking gas import to more than 50,000 metric tons monthly for next three months in view of the upcoming festival seasons.
