Kathmandu, August 15:
Squatters living along the Manohara river in Kathmandu clashed with city police on Friday morning after municipal authorities began demolishing their makeshift homes.

Personnel from Kathmandu Metropolitan City’s Municipal Police, backed by Nepal Police personnel, arrived at the site with bulldozers to clear the settlement. As they started dismantling the structures built there, residents hurled stones and bricks at the officers in protest.

Police responded with baton charges, dispersing the crowd. No immediate reports of injuries were available.
