Nepalis’ Death Tally Abroad Hits 161

Kathmandu, July 26: One more Nepali succumbed to the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19) abroad this week.

According to the Health Committee under the Non-Resident Nepali Association (NRNA), the death was reported from the United Kingdom, taking the COVID-19 death toll of Nepalis in foreign lands to 161 till Saturday evening.

According to Dr Sanjib Sapkota, coordinator of the committee, of the 31,150 total infected Nepalis in 36 different countries, 29,243 have recovered. It means over 93 percent infected Nepalis have overcome the virus abroad.

The NRNA further shared that the infection rate among the Nepalis in African countries reported an increase this week compared to last week. The infection rate has also risen in the Arabian nations of the UAE, Qatar, Kuwait and Saudi Arabia.

Meanwhile, the committee prepared a special guideline regarding the necessary safety precautions to be applied while being in public places and during travel using vehicles. It has suggested the mandatory use of face masks in public areas to prevent the COVID-19 infection.a
