17 More Nepalis Living Abroad Die Of COVID-19, Tally Hits 281

Kathmandu, Oct 11: An additional 17 Nepalis living abroad have lost their lives due to the global pandemic of COVID-19 in a week.

According to the Non-Resident Nepali Association (NRNA), one person in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and 16 others in Saudi Arabia died of COVID-19 within a week. Dr Sanjeev Sapkota, coordinator of NRNA Health Committee, said that a total of 281 Nepalis living abroad have succumbed to COVID-19 in the last nine months.

The association stated Nepalis living in Belgium, Spain, the Netherlands, India, Oman, Qatar and Saudi Arabia have been infected with the virus. According to the Health Committee under the NRNA, 40,735 Nepalis living in 42 countries outside Nepal have been infected, of which 89 percent have recovered.
