
Kathmandu, Jan 16: 4,534 new cases of COVID-19 have been confirmed on Sunday.
In 12,562 Real-Time Polymerase Chain Reaction (RT-PCR) tests done in the past 24 hours, a total of 4,534 persons were found infected with SARS-CoV-2, informed the Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP) in its regular update.
Likewise, the virus infection was detected in 427 people in 2,569 antigen tests performed in the last 24 hours.
Currently, there are 25,680 active cases of COVID-19 across the nation of which, 1,096 are admitted to various institutional isolation while 24,584 patients are placed in home isolation.
Of the active patients, 122 are admitted to the ICU and 29 are under treatment with the ventilator facility.
Meanwhile, 435 COVID-19 patients receiving treatment in institutional isolation or staying in home isolation recovered from the infection in the last 24 hours.
The MoHP on Sunday added three COVID-19 related fatalities to the nation’s COVID-19 death toll, which has now reached 11,620.
Govt. Decides To Shut Down Cinema Halls, Gyms

Meanwhile, the government has decided to shut down the cinema halls and gyms till January 29.
The government decision comes in the context of the sharp increase in the cases of novel coronavirus infection in the country.
Making public the decision of the Cabinet on Sunday, Minister for Communications and Information Technology, Gyanendra Bahadur Karki, said that the meeting also decided on sharing of natural resources among the local, provincial and federal governments.
The Council of Ministers held on January 14 also decided to form a committee to determine the compensation to different hydropower projects, according to Minister Karki, also the government spokesperson.
