A Record 671 New Cases Of COVID-19 Confirmed, Tally Spikes To 7,848, Death Toll Hits 22

Kathmandu, June 18: The Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP) has confirmed 671 new cases of COVID-19 today.

As many as 671 persons including 591 males 80 females were detected with COVID-19 infection in the last 24 hours, informed Dr Jageshwor Gautam, spokesperson of the ministry in the daily press brief today.

The new cases were detected in Morang, Jhapa, Kathmandu, Baitadi, Bajura, Bhaktapur, Dadeldhura, Kailali, Nuwakot, Rautahat, Sarkahi, Sindhupalchowk, Lalitpur, Mahottari, Sindhuli, Nawalparasi (East), Syanga, Parbat, Tanahun, Gulmi, Kapilvastu, Palpa, Rupandehi, Rolpa, Dhanusha, Baglung, Manag, Argakhanchi, Banke, Bardiya, Kailali, Dailekh, Dang, Surkhet, Achham, Bajhang, Kanchanpu and Chitwan.

Meanwhile, 19 COVID-19 patients from Jumla, Dailekh, Surkhet, Rautahat and Parsa have been discharged from hospital after recovering from the virus infection in the last 24 hours.

The virus has now spread to 74 out of 77 district.

Moreover, two persons of Kailali succumbed to COVID-19 in the last 24 hours, Dr Gautam informed.

A 46-year old male Godawari Municipality-4, Kailali who was receiving treatment at Seti Provincial Hospital after being identified with COVID-19 infection on June 17 died on Wednesday evening at 7:52 PM.

Also, 43-year old female of Lamkichuha-2 Kailali suffering from subdural hematoma who was admitted to Teaching Hospital, Kohalpur for surgery had tested positive for the virus on June 17.

She had breathed her last at Kohalpur Teaching Hospital.

With this, the national COVID-19 tally has reached 7,848, including 1,186 cases of recovery and 22 death cases.
