Madhesh declaring ‘Province Brand Tree’

By Vijay Kumar Sah, Dhalkebar, June 14: The Madhesh Province government is all set to declare its Province Brand tree.

A task force to suggest a name submitted a report to the Ministry for Forest and Environment recommending Peepal tree (Ficus religiosa), Banyan tree (Ficus benghalensis) and Neem (Azadirachta indica) for the same.

The Ministry formed a 3-member team, under the coordination of Forest Officer Suresh Sharma, to select the Province tree three months ago.

According to Coordinator Sharma, Peepal tree (Ficus religiosa), Banyan tree (Ficus benghalensis), and Neem (Azadirachta indica) came first, second and Third respectively through study, evaluation and discussion.

He also said that out of the recommended trees, one will be declared ‘Province Brand Tree’ from the Province cabinet meeting.
