KATHMANDU, April 4: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli held a telephone conversation with his Bahrain counterpart Khalifa Bin Salman Al Khalifa on Saturday afternoon regarding the situation of Nepali migrants workers in the Gulf nation amid coronavirus outbreak.
PM Oli tweeted that today’s telephone talks with Khalifa was a part of his conversations with the heads of nations where significant number of Nepalis are involved as migrant workers. “I expressed my concern over the security of Nepalis there and also thanked for the Bahrain government’s support,” he said.
He also added that he would continue holding discussions with the heads of government of other countries.
The PM’s telephone conversation comes a day after the Nepali Embassy in Manama informed that the number of Nepalis infected by COVID-19 climbed to 12 with new nine confirmed cases on Friday.
Embassy of Nepal also informed through its Facebook post that PMs of two nations had a telephone conversation focusing the issue.
