Govt Recommends National Assembly Sessions For Jan 1

Kathmandu, Dec 26: Government has recommended President Bidya Devi Bhandari to summon a parliamentary session of the National Assembly for January 1 next year.

A cabinet meeting held on Friday evening made a decision to this effect.

Following the dissolution of the lower house by the President at the recommendation of Prime Minister K P Sharma Oli, the government is set to hold an upper house meeting.

According to the Constitution of Nepal, there is a provision to call a parliamentary session within six months of the date the previous House session is adjourned.

Earlier on Friday, Prime Minister Oli inducted nine new faces in his cabinet that included one state minister. He also brought reshuffle in the ministerial portfolios of several incumbent ministers.
