1,889 New Cases Of COVID-19, 3,597 Recoveries, 41 Fatalities In 24 Hours

Kathmandu, June 30: With 1,889 new cases of COVID-19 confirmed on Wednesday, the nation’s novel coronavirus tally has reached 638,805.

In 7,187 Real-Time Polymerase Chain Reaction (RT-PCR) tests done in the past 24 hours, a total of 1,889 persons were found infected with SARS-CoV-2, informed Dr. Krishna Prasad Poudel, spokesperson at the Ministry of Health and Population in the regular press briefing.

Likewise, the virus infection was detected in 1,003 people in 4,381 antigen tests performed in the last 24 hours.

Of the new infections, 572 were detected in the Kathmandu Valley including 436 in Kathmandu, 189 in Lalitpur, and 47 in Bhaktapur.

The infection rate is the highest in Karnali Province, followed by Province 1 and Gandaki Province.

Currently, there are 33,561 active cases of COVID-19 across the nation of which, 3,017 are admitted to various institutional isolation while the remaining 30,544 patients are placed in home isolation. Of the active patients, 627 are admitted to the ICU and 175 are under treatment with the ventilator facility.

A total of 17 districts across the nation currently have more than 500 active cases of COVID-19. The number of active cases is higher in people aged between 20 to 60 years.

Meanwhile, 3,597 COVID-19 patients receiving treatment in institutional isolation or staying in home isolation recovered from the infection in the last 24 hours. Nepal has now recorded 596,132 cases of recoveries.

The Ministry of Health and Population on Wednesday added 41 fatalities to the nation’s COVID-19 death toll. Nepal’s COVID-19 death toll is currently 9,112.
