List of candidates for new NC leadership made public

KATHMANDU, Dec 12: The names of the candidates vying for various posts of the Nepali Congress under its 14th General Convention have been published. In the final publication, NC President Sher Bahadur Deuba, Bimalendra Nidhi, Prakash Man Singh, Dr Shekhar Koirala, and Kalyan Kumar Gurung are the presidential candidates, after Yuvaraj Neupane withdrew his nomination. One of the remaining five candidates will be elected as the new leader of NC.

Similarly, Bijay Kumar Gachadar, Purna Bahadur Khadka, Mahesh Acharya, Sujata Koirala, Dr Chandra Bhandari, Dhan Raj Gurung, and Dibyashwori Shah are the vice-presidential candidates.

Likewise, there are six candidates for the post of two General Secretary. Dr Prakash Sharan Mahat, Dr Minendra Rijal, Bishwa Prakash Sharma, Gagan Kumar Thapa, Pradeep Poudel, and Dr Raja Ram Karki are the candidates for the post.

Kamala Panta and Dina Mahalaxmi Upadhyaya are the candidates for the post of Joint-General Secretary from the women’s quota, while Padma Man Bahadur Bishwakarma, Jeevan Pariyar, and Ganga Sunar are the candidates for the same post from the Dalit quota. Similarly, Bikash Lama and Bhishma Raj Angdembe are the candidates for the post of Joint-General Secretary from the indigenous quota. Devraj Chalise and Kishore Singh Rathore are vying for the post of Joint-General Secretary from Khas Arya.

Ranjit Karna, Ram Krishna Yadav and Mahendra Yadav are the Joint-General Secretary candidates from the Madhesh quota, while Farmulha Mansur and Sheik Wakil are the candidates from the Muslim quota for the post of Joint-General Secretary. From the Tharu quota, Tejulal Chaudhary and Umakanta Chaudhary are the candidates for the post of Joint-General Secretary. Badri Prasad Pandey, Jeevan Bahadur Shahi, Chet Raj Bajal are the candidates for the post of Joint-General Secretary from the backward area quota, according to NC’s central election committee.
