Kathmandu, Jan 29: The SCO Countries presented an art exhibition of children and young artists online on Friday. It had the theme of “2022—Together for a Shared Winter Olympics Dream.”
Jointly organised by the Good-Neighbourliness, Friendship and Cooperation Commission (GNFCC) of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), All-China Women’s Federation and other hosts and organizers, the exhibition featured more than 1200 artworks themed with the Winter Olympics.
Zhang Ming, the SCO Secretary-General, said that the SCO countries cooperated with each other at a high level in fields of culture, education, technology, health, environmental protection, tourism, and sports, promoting and supporting the implementation of many projects and activities for young people.
“It is very pleased to see children depicting the beauty of Winter Olympics sports, the aspirations and wishes for health, peace, friendship and human’s bright future with their painting brushes, reflecting their understanding of the Shanghai Spirit featuring mutual trust, mutual benefit, equality, consultation, respect for cultural diversity, and pursuit of common development,” said Ming.
He said that Beijing would present a wonderful, extraordinary and outstanding Olympic Games for the whole world, to carry out the Olympic Spirit, enhance friendship, mutual understanding and harmony between people in different countries.
Cui Li, Vice President of GNFCC, said that President Xi Jinping pointed out they should expand the channels of people-to-people exchanges and make contributions to the development of the SCO.
“As one of the most popular activities held by GNFCC, this Exhibition, with the Winter Olympics as its theme, has aroused great responses and interests from different countries and people,” said Cui.
Overcoming the hardship of COVID-19 pandemic, teenagers and young friends from the SCO countries submitted more than one thousand art works to the Organizing Committee to express their passion for the ice sports, encouragement for the Winter Olympics athletes.
Cui said that the young people were the future and hope of the SCO. “Let us, hand in hand, unfold the painting scroll of the Winter Olympics together, promoting friendship and building the bridge to enhance mutual understanding and amity between people in different countries.”
According to the press statement issued by GNFCC, the Research Center Of The Children’s Art Works CAFA held several open lectures online. Chinese embassies in the SCO countries, embassies of SCO countries in China, and cooperative partners of GNFCC at home and abroad actively encouraged young people to create and submit their art works.
Likewise, the Chinese-Russian Children’s Art Exhibition, jointly held by the Russian Cultural Center in Beijing and the SCO commission, began online on Friday.
