Balen Shah continues to lead in Kathmandu mayor race as 1800 votes are counted so far

KATHMANDU, May 14: Independent mayoral candidate of Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) Balen Shah continues to lead as 1800 votes are counted so far.

According to the latest updates provided to media, Shah has secured 736 votes while his nearest rival Keshav Sthapit of CPN-UML has secured 620 votes so far.

Likewise, Sirjana Singh of the ruling alliance has secured 335 votes and Madan Das Shrestha of Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) has received 102 votes so far. Another independent candidate Suman Sayami has received 62 votes as the vote counting is currently underway at City Hall in Bhrikutimandap.

In the post of Deputy Mayor, UML’s candidate Sunita Dangol is leading all other candidates with a huge margin.
