Kathmandu: Balen Shah leading with 28,020 votes

KATHMANDU, May 20: Independent candidate Balen Shah is leading in the mayoral race for Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) with 28,020 votes in the ongoing vote counting. Shah is ahead by over 13,000 votes against his closest rival Keshav Sthapit of the CPN-UML, who is trailing behind Shah with 14, 548 votes.

Similarly, Nepali Congress (NC) mayoral candidate Sirjana Singh has received 13,990 votes while Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) chairman Madandas Shrestha has received 2,504 votes.

In the contest for the post of deputy mayor, CPN-UML’s Sunita Dangol has maintained her lead with 24,592 votes, while CPN (Unified Socialist) candidate Rameshwor Shrestha has received 7,868 votes. Likewise, RPP candidate Binita Magaiya has received 5,464 votes.
