Russia and Nepal have never had any problems: Vladimir Putin

Kathmandu, Sept 1: Russian President Vladimir Putin has said that he would consider visiting Nepal. He made this statement while meeting Nepal’s Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli on the sidelines of the SCO meeting in Tianjin, China, on Monday.

When PM Oli suggested that Putin visit Nepal, the Russian leader said, “I will take advantage of your idea, and we will think about visiting your country, Nepal. And we will always be glad to see you in Russia at any time, at any time convenient for you.”

Russian President Putin said that Russia and Nepal had never had any problems.

“Moreover, on key issues of the international agenda, our positions are either very close or coincide, as diplomats say. And we can think about how we can expand and deepen interaction in the most important areas,” said Putin.

The two nations established their bilateral ties in 1956, and next year they will have a certain anniversary.

When PM Oli mentioned that many Nepalese receive education in Russia, Putin responded by saying that Nepalis, who studied in Russia and returned home with good memories, were like a link between Russia and Nepal.

“From the point of view of humanitarian cooperation, we pay serious attention to continuing contacts in the sphere of education and culture, including, and we will be happy to continue this area of our cooperation,” said President Putin.
According to a text available on the Russian President’s website, Putin noted that Russia and Nepal would meet halfway in the search for the most interesting and promising areas in the field of education. “I am sure that the Russian public will be very interested in getting acquainted with Nepalese sculpture. Yes, let’s think about this as well.”

Meanwhile, according to the Prime Minister’s Secretariat, the two leaders discussed bilateral ties, trade, investment, and cooperation in international affairs.

Oli and Putin emphasized the need to strengthen the strategic partnership and enhance coordination on regional and multilateral issues, it is stated.
