Kathmandu, Aug 14: The Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers (OPMCM) has stressed the need for making foreign visits of government staff more systematic, transparent and cost-effective.
At a press briefing held here on Friday, Office Spokesperson Hemraj Aryal has said a circular was issued to all ministries and government entities, making it mandatory to obtain permission from the Office before nominating any employees for a foreign visit. “This system is expected to make the foreign visits further systematic, transparent and austerely,” he added.
Moreover, a practice has been initiated to institutionalize learning from such visits within the government mechanism. It has been mandated for any employee participating in various foreign studies, visits, training, meetings, symposiums, seminars, workshops, and conferences to share the learning with other employees in their own offices upon arrival.
Meantime, it has been stressed for effectively implementing the Standard Treatment Protocol (STP) by linking it with health insurance to make the country’s health system more systematic, quality-oriented and affordable.
During a meeting held at the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers on Friday, it was stressed for effective implementation of the STP to maintain uniformity in basic healthcare services and treatment of other various diseases.
Prime Minister’s Health Advisor Dr Jagadish Prasad Agrawal chaired the meeting which was attended by 18 health specialists. (RSS)
