Remuneration Fund Worth Rs. 50 Billion Established For SME Workers Affected By COVID-19

Kathmandu, May 22: The government has established a fund worth Rs. 50 billion to provide remuneration for workers at Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) who have been affected by the COVID-19 crisis.

Finance Minister Dr Yubaraj Khatiwada, while presenting budget for upcoming Fiscal Year (FY) 2020/21 said, “Loan amount at five per cent interest rate would be provided for industries affected by COVID-19 until they get back to normalcy. The amount should be used in providing wage to the workers.”

The amount should be returned after the operation of the industries get back to normalcy, said Dr Khatiwada.
