
Kathmandu, Aug. 10: The Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP) has confirmed four COVID-19 related deaths across the nation today, taking the total number of death toll to 79.
Four persons, two females and two males, from Banke, Parsa and Kathmandu districts succumbed to COVID-19 on August 9 and 10, informed Dr. Jageshwor Gautam, spokesperson of the ministry in the daily press briefing today.
A 70-year-old female of Kohalpur Municipality-2, Banke, suffering from COVID-19, died at 3:10 pm on August 9 while receiving treatment at Nepalgunj Medical College (NMC), Kohalpur. She was admitted to the hospital on August 7 and she was also suffering from high blood pressure.
A 45-year-old female COVID-19 patient of Parsa died at 4:00 am on August 7 while receiving treatment at Narayani COVID-19 temporary hospital, Parsa.
Similarly, a 76-year-old elderly of Kathmandu Metropolitan City-10, Baneshwor, succumbed to the virus infection on August 10 at Medicare Hospital, Kathmandu.
A 64-year-old COVID-19 patient of Tyanglaphat, Kritipur, receiving treatment at Nepal Mediciti Hospital, Bhainsepati, Lalitpur breathed his last at 5:42 am on August 10.
With this, the COVID-19 death toll of Nepal has reached 79.
Likewise, the Ministry confirmed 338 new cases of COVID-19.
In 8,432 Real-Time Polymerase Chain Reaction (RT-PCR) test done in the last 24 hours, as many as 338 persons were found with the virus infection, informed Dr. Jageshwor Gautam, spokesperson of the ministry in the daily press briefing today.
The new cases of virus infection were detected in district such as Jhapa, Khotang, Morang, Dhanusa, Mahottari, Bara, Parsa, Kathmandu, Lalitpur, Nuwakot. Rautahat, Sarlahi, Sindhupalchowk, Makwanpur, Sindhuli, Achcham, Argakhanchi, Baglung, Banke, Bardiya, Bhaktapur, Chitwan, Dang, Gorkha, Kapilvastu, Palpa, Syangja, Nawalparasi (East), Pyuthan, Rupandehi, Kapilvastu, Kailali, Salyan, Rolpa, Surkhet, Dailekh, Baitadi and Bajhang.
Meanwhile, 140 COVID-19 infected receiving treatment at various health facilities across the nation were discharged in the last 24 hours after recovering from the virus infection. The recovery rate now stands at 70.7 per cent.
Currently, there are 6,738 active cases of COVID-19 and 10,759 persons, mostly those who have returned home from abroad, are placed in quarantine.
With this, the COVID-19 national tally has reached 23,310 including 16,493 cases of recovery.
