KATHMANDU, Feb 28: Minister for Land Management and Cooperatives Padma Aryal has informed that 90 per cent work of remeasuring the height of Mount Everest has been over.
Minister Aryal, while informing the media persons about her achievements since she became minister, stated so in a program organized at her ministry on Friday.
Nepal is accomplishing the task of measuring the height of the world’s tallest peak for the first time mobilizing its manpower and resources.
On the occasion, she also revealed that a technical team formed to update the map of Nepal has reached the final stage. “Nepal’s map is being drawn using the most recent technology including LiDAR,” she added.
Minister Aryal also informed that the ministry has formulated a law for the management of landless people and unmanaged settlement and is being implemented very soon.
The government has so far retrieved 284 bighas of public land to its record, according to her.
Similarly, the government is preparing to amend the Cooperatives Act while an integrated Land Act will be introduced including the Guthi Bill after holding discussions with the concerned stakeholders.
“We have received suggestions from the stakeholders. We have further decided to form an advisory committee focusing Kathmandu valley so that we won’t have to face any problems in the following days,” she added.
