Nepali man tested positive for coronavirus during treatment at Bihar’s Patna Medical College

BIRGUNJ, March 22: A man from Birgunj of Parsa district has been tested positive for coronavirus, officials said today.

The 67-year-old man is currently undergoing treatment at Patna Medical College of Indian state of Bihar bordering Nepal, according to Chief District Officer of Parsa Bishnu Kumar Karki. “It is confirmed that the man has been tested positive for COVID-19 during treatment at Patna Medical College,” Karki told Republica Online.

The family members of the patient also confirmed that he was tested positive for COVID-19.

Indian media also reported quoting Bihar’s Health Minister Mangal Pandey that the Nepali media has been tested COVID-19.

It is learnt that the man was admitted to Patna Medical College a few days ago after a local hospital in Birgunj refused to admit him there. This is the second confirmed case of COVID-19 in Nepal. Earlier in January, a man had tested positive for COVID-19 in Kathmandu and returned home after being recovered.
