By Lokendra Joshi, Darchula, Mar. 31: Agreeing to manage the stranded Nepalis at the Nepal-India border points, the Indian government has quarantined 500 Nepalis in bridge area of Dharchula, by providing food and shelter.
“The stranded Nepalis will be quarantined until the governments of both the sides agree to send them back to their homeland,” said Anil Kumar Shukla, sub-district authority of Dharchula, India.
The stranded Nepalis have been kept in Dharchula and Jauljibi of India.
“Everyone is supposed to stay wherever they are during the lockdown,” said Chief District Officer of Darchula, Yadhunath Poudel. “But the Nepalis marched towards the border following the rumor that the bridge was open.”
Three Nepalis who entered the country by swimming across the Mahakali River have been sent to their home municipalities.
A considerable number of Nepalis had entered Nepal by swimming across the river during nighttime.
105 Nepalis stranded in Jhulaghat
Meanwhile, 105 Nepalis who had reached the border by walking from various parts of India have been stranded at Jhulaghat border point for three days.
Those who were able to enter Nepal have been staying in quarantine. As of Tuesday morning, 301 people were quarantined in Baitadi and health condition of all them is normal.
