Kathmandu, Oct 25: The Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP) has urged all health institutions across the country to provide free treatment to those COVID-19 patients who cannot afford its cost.
With an earlier decision of the government not to bear the cost of COVID-19 treatment, news on poor and helpless COVID-19 patients denied treatment without depositing fees in the hospitals had made headlines in many media.
Issuing a press statement on Sunday, the MoHP has directed all government hospitals, private hospitals, medical colleges and all other health institutions to provide free COVID-19 treatment to those who cannot bear the cost of treatment themselves.
The health ministry has already unveiled the category of patients who can get free COVID-19 treatment. Poor, disabled, helpless and aged people have been placed under this category.
The health ministry has warned health institutes of “possible consequences” if someone is denied of treatment.
People seeking free COVID-19 treatment will have to bear Identity Cards with them.
