COVID-19 Update: 445 New Cases, 414 Recoveries In 24 Hours

Kathmandu, Jan. 13: With 445 new cases of the novel coronavirus confirmed on Wednesday, the national COVID-19 tally has reached 265,268.

“In 4,154 Real-Time Polymerase Chain Reaction (RT-PCR) tests done in the last 24 hours, 445 persons were found infected with SARS-CoV-2,” informed Dr. Jageshwor Gautam, spokesperson of the Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP) during the regular press briefing.

At the same time, 246 infections including 189 in Kathmandu, 38 in Lalitpur, and 19 in Bhaktapur were recorded in the Kathmandu Valley.

Currently, there are 4,434 active cases of COVID-19 across the nation of which, 1,107 are in institutional isolation 3,327 and are in home isolation. A total of 237 persons, mostly those who had returned from abroad, are placed in quarantine.

Of the patients receiving treatment in institutional isolation, 144 are admitted to the ICU while 35 are receiving treatment with the ventilator facility.

Meanwhile, 414 COVID-19 patients receiving treatment in institutional isolation or staying in home isolation recovered from the infection in the last 24 hours. Nepal has now recorded 259,772 cases of recoveries and the recovery rate stands at 97.6 per cent.
