868 new cases, 3 deaths, 414 recoveries in 24 hrs

Kathmandu, Aug. 10: As many as 868 people have been found infected with the novel coronavirus in the last 24 hours across the country.

Three persons succumbed to the virus infection in the same period.

According to Dr. Samir Adhikari, spokesperson of the Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP), a total of 6,705 tests – 3,614 PCR and 3091 antigen tests- were conducted in the last 24 hours.

The positivity rate has now increased to 13 per cent from around 1 percent about three weeks ago.

Dr. Adhikari said over 300 tested positive for the virus in the Kathmandu Valley alone.

The number of active cases of the virus infection, COVID-19, has reached 5,885 to date.

Meanwhile, 414 persons got over the virus infection in the same period.

As symptoms may not manifest in about 50 per cent of the infected, it is advised that all should abide by health safety standards, Dr. Adhikari urged.
