NC Prez Calls 3-party Meeting To Discuss New Govt Formation

Kathmandu, April 8: The main opposition, Nepali Congress (NC) President Sher Bahadur Deuba has called a meeting of three political parties represented in the parliament for Friday to discuss about the formation of new government.

President Deuba has invited top leaders of CPN(Maoist Center) and Janata Samajbadi Party (JSP) for Friday 3 PM. The meeting is scheduled to discuss in detail about forming a coalition government of NC, Maoist Center and the JSP as K P Oli-led government has already fallen in minority after the Maoist Center decided to withdraw its support to it.

The decision of President Deuba to take initiative to form new government comes almost a week after the party’s Central Working Committee (CWC) meeting took a decision to take initiative to form new government under the party’s leadership. The CWC meeting had also sought resignation of Prime Minister Oli, arguing that he had lost moral grounds to stay in the post of prime minister after he took unconstitutional move to dissolve the House of Representatives(HoR). The parliament dissolution move was later overturned by the Supreme Court.
