Kathmandu, Apr. 16: Nepali Congress has ruled out any possibility of forging an electoral alliance with the CPN (UML) at the local level even if there is no electoral alliance among the ruling parties.
Dr. Prakash Sharan Mahat, NC spokesperson, made such a view while the meeting of the NC’s central work performance committee is going on.
The party center of the NC will instruct for forging an electoral alliance with the ruling parties in the metropolitan and sub-metropolitan cities and give the authority to forge such an alliance at the municipal levels to the lower levels, according to Dr. Mahat.
The lower levels of the NC should report to the party center about the local levels where electoral alliance among the ruling parties is not made or cannot be made.
“We have asked the concerned levels to forge an alliance among ruling parties and report to the party center if forging an alliance is not possible,” he said.
“We have strictly instructed the party committees at the local levels for not forging an electoral alliance with the CPN (UML) even in the event that electoral alliance is not forged among the ruling parties,” he said.
The NC spokesperson said that there could be a friendly competition among the ruling parties at the local levels in places where the electoral alliance among them is not made.
