Kathmandu, Aug. 30: The Chinese government handed over emergency relief materials to the Nepal government amidst a function in Kathmandu on Sunday morning.
According to a press statement issued by the Chinese embassy, two Y-20 large transport aircraft of the PLA Air Force of China carrying China-aid emergency relief supplies arrived at Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu at 7 o’clock. Four Chinese tunnel rescue experts, along with rescue equipment, arrived on board.
The aircraft carried 13,200 items of emergency relief supplies, including tents, blankets, sleeping bags, hard tack and first-aid kits, with a total weight of 50 tonnes.
Minister for Science, Technology and Innovation Mahabir Pun, Chinese ambassador to Nepal Zhang Maoming and lawmaker Dharma KC attended the handover ceremony for China-aided emergency relief supplies for victims of the Bhotekoshi flood.
The two transport aircraft took off from Chengdu Shuangliu International Airport and arrived in Kathmandu after a flight of about three hours.
