160 New Cases Of COVID-19, 165 Recoveries In 24 Hours

Kathmandu, Feb. 9: With 160 new cases of the novel coronavirus confirmed on Tuesday, the national COVID-19 tally has reached 272,215.

“In 4,309 Real-Time Polymerase Chain Reaction (RT-PCR) tests done in the last 24 hours, 160 persons were found infected with SARS-CoV-2,” informed the Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP) in its daily update.

Of the new cases, 79 were reported in the Kathmandu Valley.

Currently, there are 1,737 active cases of COVID-19 across the nation of which, 824 are receiving treatment in various institutional isolation and the remaining are placed in home isolation. Of the active patients, 64 are admitted to the ICU while 15 are receiving treatment with the ventilator facility.

A total of 87 people, mostly those who had returned from abroad are placed in quarantine across the nation.

Meanwhile, 165 COVID-19 patients receiving treatment in institutional isolation or staying in home isolation recovered from the infection in the last 24 hours. Nepal has now recorded 268,431 cases of recovery and the recovery rate at 98.6 per cent.

Moreover, two persons succumbed to the novel coronavirus infection in the last 24 hours, taking the COVID-19 death toll to 2,047.
