Rajendra Lingden wins RPP chairmanship

KATHMANDU, Dec 5: Rajendra Lingden has been elected as the chairman of Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP).

Linden got 1,844 votes while Kamal Thapa got 1,617 votes. A total of 413 votes were invalidated.

Stating that he will accept defeat, Thapa tweeted this morning and congratulated Lingden on his victory.

Meanwhile, Kunti Kumari Shahi has won the post of General Secretary of Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP). Another candidate for the post, popular actress Rekha Thapa was defeated in the polls.

According to today’s tally, Kunti won with 2,008 votes while Rekha got 1,640 votes.

Thapa raps former King Gyandendra

Meanwhile, Thapa has accused former King Gyanendra Shah of intervening in the Unity General Convention on the party in order to defeat him.

“I condemn the naked intervention by Nirmal Niwas (the residence of former King Gyanendra Shah) of interfering in the internal election of the party,” Thapa tweeted on Sunday morning.

Furthermore, Thapa tweeted, “ The prize was received today for carrying the monarchy since 2006 when the wave of republic swept across the country. Good luck to the king for trying to eliminate politically the main driver of that agenda. Best wishes.”

Thapa also mentioned that he was happy to accept defeat in the election and congratulated Lingden over his victory.

RPP elected office-bearers sworn in

The newly-elected office-bearers of Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) who won elections at the recently-held RPP Unity Convention, took the oath of office amid a function in the capital on Sunday. Coordinator of the party’s central election committee, Hari Bahadur Basnet administered the oath to the elected party office-bearers including its chairperson Rajendra Prasad Lingden.

Similarly, vice-chairpersons Buddhi Man Tamang, Bikram Pandey, Dhurba Bahadur Pradhan, Roshan Karki, General Secretaries Dhawal Shumsher Rana, Bhuban Pathak and Kunti Kumari Shahi were sworn in. A 149-member central committee was elected from the unity convention.
