SC Allows Lawmakers Pandey, Bhatta To Join CPN (Unified Socialist)

Kathmandu, Sep. 14: The Supreme Court has issued an interim order allowing House of Representatives (HoR) member Som Prasad Pandey and National Assembly (NA) member Sharada Devi Bhatta to choose Communist Party of Nepal (Unified Socialist).

A joint bench of Justices Ishwar Prasad Khatiwada and Nahakul Subedi issued the order on Tuesday in the name of the Election Commission, preventing the latter from doing any activities curtailing Pandey and Bhatta’s right to be the member of CPN (Unified Socialist).

Pandey and Bhatta had filed a writ petition in the Supreme Court against the EC stating that they were not given a chance to identify themselves as the member of the newly formed CPN (Unified Socialist).
